Three weeks ago I decided to change my lifestyle a bit. I decided to start doing some yoga in bed in the morning just after waking up and before going to bed as well as saying positive affirmations. I wanted those changes to feel calm, happy, stressless, fearless, confident and well. After two days that I started my mom told me that it took 21 days to change a habit. I was curious if it was true and how I will feel at the end of those three weeks and here I am today. I feel fantastic and happy about myself. Here what I have learned throughout the last three weeks.
First thing, you need determination, motivation and perseverance. The first week is kind of challenging, but as well as being easy for the first couple of days, since you have made the decision of doing it. I will say that after a couple of days you need determination, motivation, perseverance and why you have started at first. Adding a habit in your daily life is not always easy, because it took time and to be honest with you, sometimes I did feel like just going straight to bed and not doing my yoga in bed and saying my positive affirmations.
Second thing, after having the determination, motivation and perseverance to do it, things are coming easier after the first week. The second week was a lot easier because I was used to it. I started to feel better every day and feel just like I wanted, I was very happy about that. I have got my little routine. Something that was easier for me the second week is the fact that I was alone at home. My parents were on holiday ( yes, I still live at my parent's), so improving your lifestyle when you are alone it's easier because you have nobody to disturb you. Further, when you are alone, you can have to routine that you want. When you live with others, you have to take them into consideration, you have to think that they are not doing the same thing as you. So, the second week was easier because of that, I had my daily routine and I didn't just do my yoga in bed and positive affirmations, I have done my workout, plan the week like I wanted in order to make sure I will do everything I needed to do to feel good.
Third Thing, after having your daily routine it getting easier because you know where to go and what to do. However, Having a daily routine it's easy when you are alone and you don't have anything to disturb you. On my third week into those changes, I have got some appointments at night, my parents were back from their holiday, so my routine had to change. I found it difficult and I didn't do my workout as much as I wanted. I still did my yoga in bed and positive affirmations, the reason of my changes at first, but I was disappointed in me because I didn't truly continue the changes I started on the second week. This was until I decided to change a bit my routine and let my routine having place for some changes that come up last minute. That was when I could do my workout like the second week and feel a lot better.
In conclusion, changing habits or improving a lifestyle is not always easy because we have to face some challenges and difficulties. Not giving up is the best thing to do because you feel happy and proud of the fact that you have done it for 21 days ( three weeks). Today is as been 21 days that I have started those changes and I will tell you that I feel happy, confident, proud and I know I can achieve whatever I want. The changes or improvements need to come from you because you will find the motivation, determination and perseverance to continue and make sure you realise them. Further, the reason why you want to do those changes and improvements need to be a good one, such as feeling good and happy, not to please anybody and to feel accepted by people. You need to do those changes for YOURSELF, whatever are the changes you want a make.
